Position: Part-Time Line Cook

Location: Manitowoc, Wisconsin

Position Overview: Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center—a non-profit, state-of-the-art, interactive agricultural education center—connects visitors’ curiosity to the wonders of Wisconsin farming and provides guests with a better understanding of their food sources.

We are looking for a part-time line cook that will join a growing local café and provide guidance as we expand our café and banquet experiences. Hours vary depending on banquets, special events, and expected crowds throughout the week. Rate of compensation dependent on level of experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing food in a correct and efficient manner, ensuring consistent quality is met and in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Assisting with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen
  • Assisting with the planning, preparation, and execution of banquets and events
  • Assisting the chef with day to day tasks and operations
  • Providing insight on occasional features, specials, and other food creatives
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • ServSafe Certification (preferred)
  • Knowledge of proper food perforation and handling
  • Experience in high volume food production or catering
  • Willingness to take day-to-day work direction from management
  • Ability to work in high-stress environments
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and as business levels dictate

 

 

Position: Part-time Server

Position Overview: Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center—a non-profit, state-of-the-art, interactive agricultural education center—connects visitors’ curiosity to the wonders of Wisconsin farming and provides guests with a better understanding of their food sources.

We are searching for a courteous barista/server who is passionate about food and beverage preparation and education to engage guests in our Wisconsin Cafe. The barista/server will greet customers, answer questions, take orders, accept payments, prepare and serve food and drinks. You will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area, update displays, and continuously expand your knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, preparation methods, and presentation.

To succeed as a barista/server, you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcoming customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.
  • Preparing foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods, grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, and serving items to customers.
  • Packaging food and beverages for sale.
  • Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment and utensils.
  • Learning about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
  • Updating signage and displays to attract customers.
  • Taking inventory and replenishing items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.
  • Adhering to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
  • Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items.
  • Assisting with banquets and events with all previously mentioned duties
  • Perform additional responsibilities per the Café Manager and Floor Manager

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service preferred.
  • Training and willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation.
  • Exceptional listening and communication skills.
