Position: Marketing Communications Specialist
Location: Manitowoc, Wisconsin
Position Overview: The Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center is a non-profit, interactive agricultural education center. Farm Wisconsin connects visitors’ curiosity to the wonders of Wisconsin farming and provides guests with a better understanding of their food sources. The marketing communications specialist will help fulfill this mission through the creation of marketing campaigns, print materials, and an all-inclusive communication plan. This role will utilize a variety of tactics to elevate Farm Wisconsin including social media, e-newsletters, advertisements, and other communication tools. This individual should thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment, and must be able to determine the best communication methods for various target audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on marketing communications strategy to promote general admission, school field trips, programs, conference center rental, and group outings
- Manage Farm Wisconsin’s current and emerging social media channels
- Create on-brand, attention-getting promotional pieces supporting Farm Wisconsin activities
- Develop written, photographic and video stories appropriate to the audience and platform
- Maintain Farm Wisconsin’s website, continually updating imagery and generating new blog content to increase search engine optimization
- Utilize data and analytics on messaging consumption to make recommendations and decisions regarding communications strategies and plans
- Nurture proactive media relationships and drive brand awareness in the public relations community
- Participate in other duties for the good of co-workers and Farm Wisconsin
Required Skills:
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience managing business social media channels
- Working knowledge of website design platforms, preferably WordPress
- Experience developing data-driven marketing campaigns
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (or comparable design platform) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to learn and cultivate new audiences and donors
- Comprehensive understanding of food production systems and a passion for Wisconsin agriculture
- Proactive mindset and a self-starter attitude
- Receptive to manager and co-worker feedback
Credentials: B.S. or B.A. in marketing, communications, journalism, agriculture, or another related field
