MANITOWOC, WI (May 28, 2020): Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center will reopen its doors Friday, June 5, and will follow a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule for general public admissions. The center will also maintain weekday availability for groups making advance reservations.
“We are excited to welcome guests back to Farm Wisconsin, and are making sure the guest experience is safe,” says Patty Lehn, Farm Wisconsin Executive Director. “We have been finding creative ways to bring new experiences and make use of outdoor areas.”
Farm Wisconsin’s 10,000 square feet of exhibit space will be open, as will the popular birthing barn, where visitors have the opportunity to watch the miracle of calf birth. The center will not run the farm bus tour, but will show a video farm tour in its theater.
With the reopening, Farm Wisconsin will implement social distancing measures as well as utilize outside spaces to spread out visitors. Farm Wisconsin Discover Center has hosted several drive-thru barnyard events since the building closed March 17. Key to that experience was the assistance of local farms and hobbyists, adds Lehn. With similar support, Farm Wisconsin plans to feature different animals, equipment and other attractions throughout the summer.
Additional special events currently on the schedule include:
- Farmer for a Day – Saturday, June 13th 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Little farmer activities and a few extra animals.
- Father’s Day Weekend – June 19-21; Dads get in free all weekend with a paid family member.
More promotions and events are being planned and will be found at FarmWisconsin.org and Facebook.com/FarmWisconsin.
Guests can expect the Wisconsin Café to open with a limited menu, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The center’s ice cream counter and gift shop will also be open during regular visitor hours.
As an added convenience and safety measure to limit interaction, guests may purchase their admissions to Farm Wisconsin online at FarmWisconsin.org in advance of attendance, or at the door. Groups wishing to schedule a private event may call the center at (920) 726-6000 or email [email protected].
