MANITOWOC, WI – While horse racing takes center stage in Kentucky May 6, horse diet, grooming and
equine science takes the spotlight at Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center. Farm Wisconsin celebrates
“Derby Day” Saturday, May 6 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm by providing equine fun and learning for visitors
of all ages.

Derby Day will offer a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of equine science. Guests will
have the chance to get hands on with horses, and experience caring for them; learning about their diet,
grooming, and exercise needs.

Pony rides will also be available during the event for $4 per ride, and visitors 12 and younger will also
receive a derby hat to embellish with supplies offered at the event.

“Horses did the work that tractors and other equipment does in today’s agricultural landscape,” says
Abigail Winkel, Farm Wisconsin’s program manager. “Although their roles have mostly changed, horses
are fascinating and loved creatures, and we’re happy to celebrate them and share their wonders.”

Except for the nominal pony ride charge, Derby Day activities are included in the price of admission to
Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center. Tickets for Farm Wisconsin can be purchased at the door, or in
advance at farmwisconsin.org.
