The Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center team is currently seeking an Agriculture Education and Program Intern for the summer of 2025.

 

Position Overview: The Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center is a non-profit agricultural education center. Farm Wisconsin connects visitors’ curiosity to the wonders of Wisconsin farming and provides guests with a better understanding of their food sources. The agriculture education and program intern will play a key role in this mission by delivering educational experiences and engaging programming under the direction of the brand manager. This individual will serve as the main contact for field trip groups, collaborate with volunteers, and facilitate hands-on learning labs. Additionally, they will work closely with other team members to plan and execute special events that convey the story of Wisconsin farmers and processors.

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome field trip leaders, chaperones, and students and provide orientation to the discovery center
  • Coordinate and oversee field trip schedules
  • Prepare materials and execute setup for STEM-focused learning labs
  • Facilitate interactive STEM labs for students grades K-12, adapting labs to suit the needs of each group
  • Ensure volunteers are prepared for their roles during field trips and special events
  • Assist in volunteer recruitment and training as needed
  • Support event planning and execution, including on-site programs and community outreach events
  • Provide logistical support during events, including setup, coordination, and breakdown of activities
  • Communicate with Farm Wisconsin partners in advance of events and to collect event feedback
  • Participate in other duties for the good of co-workers and Farm Wisconsin

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, including students, educators, parents, and volunteers
  • Confidence and enthusiasm in leading hands-on STEM labs or providing group orientations
  • Familiarity with STEM concepts and food production systems
  • Passion for Wisconsin agriculture, education, and community engagement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Courteous attitude with a guest-first mentality
  • Receptive to manager and co-worker feedback
  • Motivated to work independently

Credentials: Actively pursuing a BS or BA in education, agriculture, or another related field
