Manitowoc, WI – The Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, in partnership with the Wisconsin Beef Council, is excited to host Beef Fest, an event celebrating Wisconsin’s beef industry this May during National Beef Month. The event takes place on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Beef Fest will provide an opportunity for guests to learn about and experience the beef industry in Wisconsin.

In addition to meeting some beef cattle, a highlight of the event will be a sausage-making demonstration from Crescent Meats. Crescent Meats, Cadott, is a family-owned and operated full-service meat processing facility. The sausage-making demonstration will take place one time at 11:30 am.

Additionally, Beef Fest attendees will find interactive stations on topics such as beef nutrition, cattle roping, and beef byproducts. Long-time Farm Wisconsin partner, the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, will also be present at the event to showcase how farmers in Wisconsin are caring for their land, water, and environmental resources.

On top of the educational opportunities at Beef Fest, the Wisconsin Beef Council will be hosting their annual Burgers and Buns Fun Run during the event. The fun run 5K is open to the entire family and can be done in-person or virtually. Participants of the race will enjoy a free burger as a finishing reward. Guests are encouraged to pre-register for the Burgers and Buns Fun Run.

The Wisconsin Café, located at Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, will be hosting an outdoor café this day serving fresh-grilled burgers and all-beef hot dogs.

“For us Wisconsinites, National Beef Month signals that start of the summer grilling season,” shares Abigail Winkel, Farm Wisconsin program manager. “We can’t think of a better way to celebrate at Farm Wisconsin than watching how all-beef sausage is made, learning about beef cattle in Wisconsin, and finishing the day by enjoying a burger on the grill.”

Except for the in-advance registration for the Burgers and Buns Fun Run, Beef Fest activities are included in the price of admission to Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center. Tickets for Farm Wisconsin can be purchased at the door, or in advance at farmwisconsin.org.
