PLANNING TIPS
1. Schedule 3 – 4 hours for your visit.
A three – four-hour visit offers enough time to experience our entire discovery center during your Farm Wisconsin field trip without entering into “I’m bored” territory. This window of time will include a welcome, free exploration in our exhibit space, a stop in the Land O’Lakes birthing barn, time for a driving farm tour (learn more below), a lunch break, and wiggle room for adding on a STEM lab or outdoor playtime to your agriculture field trip.
Don’t have three hours in your day? No worries, shorter visits can be just as impactful! Reach out with your tentative itinerary to discuss options.
2. Arrive on a bus.
School field trips that arrive on a bus have the opportunity to take a driving tour of our partner farm, the Grotegut Dairy Farm. The tour offers students an up-close view of an operational dairy farm and expert insight into life on the farm. Guests remain on the bus for the duration of the tour – so no need to worry about winter coats, rain boots, or muddy clothes!
The tour highlight? Driving into the freestall barn – home to 3,200 milking cows!
3. Include ice cream!
Sweeten up your visit when you include a junior scoop of ice cream with your field trip. Offer the ice cream treat to students only or your whole group – it’s your choice! Guests will select from multiple flavors that rotate based on the season. Made locally by Cedar Crest Ice Cream, it’s hard to make a wrong decision!
How much does the add-on ice cream cost? $2.50/person for a junior (one) scoop.
