Celebrate Earth Day at Farm Wisconsin

Robotics in agriculture to be featured at annual event

MANITOWOC, WI – Join the Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center for an Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22, 2023. The event will shine a spotlight on the cutting-edge technology revolutionizing farming practices and the methods farmers are using to protect the environment. Activities are planned from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and are included with general admission to the discovery center.

This family-friendly event will be highlighted by the opportunity to get up close and personal with current agriculture technology and robotics. Included in the attraction line-up are an automated milking system from DeLaval and automated feed pusher from JOZ.

“Robotic innovation is propelling many industries forward in our state, and we are proud to demonstrate how these two specific robots are improving the farming community as a whole,” shares Abigail Winkel, program manager. “We know there is excitement around robotic machines, and we invite the public to get an up-close look at two robots unique to the agriculture sector.”

75th Alice in Dairyland, Taylor Schaefer, will also be present at the event to talk about the benefits of pollinators in agriculture. Guests will be able to create ‘pollinator bombs’, a great way to support bees and other essential pollinators.

Visitors will continue their Earth Day engagement with both the Wisconsin Farm Bureau and Manitowoc County Dairy Promotion Council. Director of Sustainability Communications and Partnerships at the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, Rachel Gerbitz, will share the importance of rainfall and cover crops practices through an interactive demonstration in which the whole family can participate.

The Manitowoc County Dairy Promotion Council will provide a deep dive into Wisconsin’s most well-known agriculture industry through an activity looking at the carbon footprint of the dairy industry.

Tickets for Farm Wisconsin can be purchased at the door, or in advance at farmwisconsin.org.
