Agriculture Industry Career Summit

The Ag Industry Career Summit is an Academic and Career Plan (ACP) opportunity for high school age students and educators to explore the diversity of career options within the ag industry including IT and food, fuel, and fiber production.  Attendees will be able to connect with career professionals and educational partners, experience interactive exhibits, participate in STEM activities, and observe demonstrations of modern-day equipment and processes.

9:15-10:15am                 Discovery Center Tour, Summit Partner Exhibits and Demonstrations

10:15-10:45am               Panel Introduction

10:45-11:15am                Breakout Session

11:15-11:45am                 Breakout Session Presentations (five groups – five minutes each)

11:45am-12:00pm         Final Panel/Participant Q&A

12:00-12:15pm               Closing Remarks

The panel members will consist of five professionals representing diverse areas of career pathways within the agricultural industry (I.e., Farmer, Implement, Food Scientist, Agronomy, Processor). Each panel member will share their inspirational story of how they became involved in the agricultural industry and what prepared them for their current professional position.

The breakout session will consist of each panel member meeting with groups of students and educators for an in-depth Q&A of the panel member’s career pathway.  One to two students from each group will present what their group learned during the session.
